Oxygen for Nepal

MIT Group Foundation donated 220 oxygen concentrators to help the Government of Nepal.

In the past few weeks, Nepal’s daily case trajectory has shot up, with two out of five people tested now returning positive. With the daily infection rate increasing rapidly which has recorded more than 8000 per day since last week, the number of cases requiring the needs of Intensive care service and ventilator care has also increased.

The country’s health systems have been overwhelmed by the sudden spike, with a hospital shortage of ICU beds and ventilators. In a bid to combat the ongoing crisis, MIT Group Foundation, a registered Australian Charity, is donating 220 oxygen concentrators (valued at AUD $300,000) to help the Government of Nepal’s effort in saving the lives of Nepalese citizens who are facing severe scarcity of oxygen amidst a rising number of covid-19 patients.

Today’s donation, in addition to the last year’s contribution of NPR30 million (3crore) by the Foundation to the Government of Nepal’s initial COVIT-19 relief fund, brings the total to NPR60 million (6 crores) or in excess of AUD600,000to date.
